Job Purpose and Background:
Are you a skilled project manager with experience in delivering complex technology and data projects? Do you want to drive the development of high-priority products, services, and systems at one of the world’s leading corporate climate action organizations?
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is looking for a Project Manager to join our growing Data & Technology Team. You will ensure key internal and external data and technology tools, products, and services are delivered on time, with high quality, and aligned to business and user needs.
About the SBTi:
The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating companies worldwide to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.
The initiative is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. The SBTi defines and promotes best practices in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves companies’ targets. About you:
You have a strong understanding of project management and are naturally inclined to motivate and lead teams. You are organized and driven to deliver project objectives within scope, resource, and time constraints. You have experience working cross-functionally with business leaders, technology specialists, and delivery teams in a matrix organization as well as leading agile projects in the technology space. English is the working language at SBTi and the ability to communicate at a business fluent level is needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Works closely with the data & technology team to support large / cross-functional projects with strategic importance to the organization
- Develops project plan, work estimation, and resourcing required to ensure project success
- Performs risk analysis, mitigation, and escalation to ensure stakeholders can react early in correcting the course of projects
- Executes, tracks, and monitors project progress and communicates relevant information to stakeholders regularly
- Leads projects to completion in collaboration with Program and Business partners to ensure the project deliverables are in line with technology strategy and business objectives
- Contributes to the development of project management best practices, tools, and techniques as well as the adoption of agile within SBTi
Essential Skills & Experience
- Ability to resolve conflicting priorities, resource constraints, and project scope to ensure smooth delivery of project objectives
- Ability to manage stakeholders, build strong relationships, and provide team leadership throughout the project lifecycle
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience
- Proven experience in running medium to large-complexity projects in the technology space
- Ability to work remotely and flexibly in a global environment with limited direct supervision
Desirable skills & experience
- Experience working in a global team
- Experience of data and technology projects in sustainability or environmental organizations
- Familiarity with agile values and how to leverage agile to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure, experience using Asana a plus
The salary for this role will depend on location and experience level. This role is a fixed-term contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Interested candidates should be legally allowed to work in the countries specified. The SBTi cannot sponsor any working visas.
