The Role

Reporting to the Design Director, the Design Manager will oversee the full design process for data center projects across France. This role focuses on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, managing subcontractors and ensuring project delivery as an owner's representative.

While this is a remote role, the ability to travel for site visits is required. Projects are typically new construction and around 10-20MW.

Design Leadership

Your main duties will include:

• Lead and own the design process for a portfolio of data center projects (1-2 at once), collaborating with Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical (MEP) teams to deliver world-class designs.
• Manage design decisions, ensuring they meet company standards and local regulations, while aligning with business goals.
• Drive technical excellence in design with a focus on cost management and mission-critical operations.
  
  

Collaboration & Project Oversight

• Serve as the key interface between internal teams (engineering, construction, commercial management) and external partners (subcontractors, consultants).
• Manage relationships with design partners and equipment suppliers, ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation.
  
  

Owner’s Representative Role

• Represent the owner's interests throughout the project lifecycle, from design to construction, ensuring that subcontractors are effectively managed to meet project objectives.
• Oversee budget controls and manage design changes during the construction phase, working in close collaboration with the Project Manager.
  
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in MEP design, ideally within mission-critical environments like data centers.
• MSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (BSc with substantial experience also acceptable).
• Previous experience managing design and engineering projects as an owner's representative is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication in both French and English.
