Welcome to Hahn-Schickard: The research centre for innovative microsystems technology. With a team of over 300 employees, we transform ideas into cross-industry solutions - from conception to production at four locations in Baden-Württemberg.

At the Freiburg site, the focus is on analytical solutions, especially for point-of-care diagnostics. But we also research, develop and manufacture electrochemical energy systems, autonomous fluidic robots and 3D printing of electronics.

For our Laboratory Automation division we offer at Freiburg im Breisgau the following position (beginning from August 2024 or later):

Bachelor Thesis - Create Microdroplets with infilling of Adhesive (m/f/x)

Your Tasks

You will be part of a novel R&D project in collaboration with a market-leading industrial partner. The goal is to encapsulate adhesive in microcapsules by creating a layer around the adhesive droplets.

• Follow a step-by-step protocol to encapsulate adhesive into microcapsules
• Improve the protocols to try different encapsulation materials
• Fabricate adhesive microcapsules using different encapsula-tion materials
• Characterize microcapsules by optical microscope
• Evaluate the encapsulation layer thickness of microcapsules
• Limited duration of contract is a maximum of 6 months
  
  

Your Profil

• Basic knowledge in chemical sciences, organic chemistry, polymers, material science, process engineering, or related field
• Ideally, previous knowledge of handling organic chemicals
• Basic lab experience and ability to follow experimental protocols
• Curiosity to learn and develop new ideas
• Good communication skills in English
