Contract type: Voltijd
DuBois Chemicals, Inc.
It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they are doing!

We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business.

What does DuBois Chemicals Global Product Compliance team do:

Operating in the chemical industry is linked to many regulatory requirements, rules, and standards which are in place to ensure chemical products are safe and that the risks to health, safety, and the environment are as low as possible. This includes regional-specific topics such as REACH-EU, UK and Turkey, the EU’s Chemical Strategy for Sustainability initiative, Responsible Care and Environmental Social Governance.

It is the role of the Global Product Compliance Team to keep track of the ever-changing legislation found in all regions in which we market our products. The team also advises legal and scientific restraints and requirements to the business. They collect, collate, and evaluate scientific data for our finished goods, raw materials, and lab chemicals used in all our locations.

The results of this work and most well-known output of the team are the Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)

One of the challenges of the Global Product Compliance Team is to ensure we meet all these different requirements.

What makes the team strong?

Our team takes a “first-time-right” approach in everything we do. This is very important because a mistake in a risk assessment can result in serious harm to people, properties, the environment, or the company.

And on the other hand good regulatory people “help make it happen” instead of telling the business what cannot be done.

Our Product Compliance Specialists are located in North America, Europe, and Asia.

This is what makes us a truly global team that understands regional needs. In this way, we add value to the commercial process by having timely and accurate knowledge about what is allowed and under which conditions.

What are some of the team upcoming goals?

The team is currently moving from several different SDS authoring software systems to a single, consolidated system to be able to give even better global support to all product lines in all regions. This will provide more consistent regulatory documentation and better enable us to take care of customer needs and expectations.

The Global Product Compliance Team delivers worldwide product support with the shortest turnaround time possible but for to many of our colleagues what we do is still a black box. The goal is to ensure that we are transparent on our work, as well as identify, manage, and meet the needs and expectations of our other business teams (procurement, product managers, R&D, Operations). That way we continue to add value to our products and services.

Responsibilities of the Product Safety Specialist:

  • Maintain regulatory records, manage and update regulatory system data in various databases;
  • Review new product introductions for compliance with relevant regional regulatory requirements including authoring Safety Data Sheets;
  • Monitor regulatory activity and identify non-compliance issues or risks;
  • Cooperate closely with R&D, Procurement and Operations to ensure that marketed chemical products remain in compliance with local, regional, international and Company regulatory requirements;
  • Proactively support communication with our affiliates and distributors about the regulatory status of our products and regulatory trends that may impact the business;

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in a scientific field, preferred in Chemistry, but other disciplines like Industrial Hygiene, Chemical engineering or similar experience will be accepted;
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in Product safety and/or compliance role in the chemical industry;
  • Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success;
  • Knowledge on Safety datasheets authoring systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with chemical safety assessments, and SDS and chemical product label authoring
  • Knowledge and experience with current Chemical regulations
  • Proven ability to identify regulatory issues and is solution orientated
  • Fluent in English
