In a nutshell, we are looking for someone who loves brand building, content, and social media. You have broken into the world of social media with love for TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, creators, and beyond, and you've since grown as a creative and strategic lead, knowing how to translate this love into solving brand and business challenges via the platforms. We're looking for someone experienced in content strategy, end to end content production where you've been the creative and creator at stages of your career. You've built enough experience and now you feel you're ready to lead.

We want someone fearless in trying new things; you may not be the entire article in social media professional terms, BUT ability to flex between creative strategy and day to day execution, and readiness to step into a lead role, are the number 1 needs. We want someone to come on a journey to grow a career in social media while taking our tone and tactics to the next level as a brand that truly wants to be bold.

You will work within the global social media and wider marketing organisation to support campaigns, positioning, and bring a social first perspective to concepts through to execution. citizenM is bold, cheeky and anything but beige. You'll champion that personality and continue to evolve it.

This job is based in the Netherlands – you either already live here, or are planning to move over (and you have the right to work here). We have a hybrid working groove – the team splits time between working from home and working from our office for collaborating.

Please note - we are in a period of exciting team growth, so the specifics of the role might be adjusted based on the experience level and skill set of the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive forward the mission and vision of the social media strategy through deep understanding of audience insights, channel mix, content strategies, messaging, media approach, and operating performance framework
  • Lead and manage a team of social media creators and work in an integrated marketing operation.
  • Act as the bridge between brand and performance marketing, leading communications with key stakeholders including the Head of Brand Marketing Manager and the Head of Digital Marketing
  • Work with our social media team to build, develop, and pitch creative and content strategies that are not your normal corporate brand approach.
  • Execute the social community management strategies, utilising the brand TOV to drive reactive and proactive engagement with our online communities and within relevant culture moments to build brand fans and advocates.
  • Lead end-to-end content production processes and timelines - from concept through to delivery, planning and channel rollout
  • Draft social captions and copy
  • Plan, publish and distribute content across channels
  • Prepare social focused briefs for external agencies and creators to support at-scale content creation and wider campaigns
  • Activate creator marketing campaigns in line with the social strategy and work closely with the PR team to align on influencer strategies and related content opportunities
  • Play an active role in the Marketing Channels circle and other cross-functional teams to ensure optimal and consistent messaging across all owned and paid marketing channels
  • Analyse content performance and report on monthly KPIs alongside the social media team learn and educate future content creation
  • Be an influence and support to the wider social and brand teams, developing their knowledge and skills.
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of the latest social media and industry trends, and know your memes, trending video content formats and tools needed to make creative effective.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a related field.
  • Proven experience with activating social media platforms, creative strategy, social media management, or similar- please share examples of past work
  • Strong leadership and project management skills; experience managing a small team and measuring operating performance essential
  • Must have a way with words and be able to interpret the brand TOV - knows how to create copy for social that compels and hooks - strong English language skills
  • Ability to proactively strategize and execute a coherent content plan across social channels
  • Able to think strategically while also driving projects with a hands-on approach
  • Proven experience running point on end-to-end content production processes
  • Creative thinker with strong storytelling skills - ability to translate marketing goals into briefs and content
  • Experience managing internal stakeholders, external partners and agencies
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of internet culture and lifestyle brands - a good sense of humour goes a long way
  • An understanding of video content, social media formats and hooks, captions and how the edit drives reach and engagement.
  • Highly collaborative, reactive, and an excellent team player
  • Familiar with the Agile way of working
  • Skills in content creation - comfortable with video editing tools (yes, even Cap Cut) and/or Adobe Creative Suite software (After Effects, Premier Pro Photoshop) a plus, however not required
  • Affinity for lifestyle and hospitality brands; passionate about brand building and identity
